We welcome help of any kind, whether you’re a person or business in Milton Keynes. It’s your donations of time, money and food, and our local partnerships, that help us achieve our mission to support people experiencing homelessness at The Shelter MK – and work towards our vision.
Pam Willams, Chair
Our temporary accommodation at George House in Stantonbury offers vital shelter and support for up to nine people experiencing homelessness in Milton Keynes. From ID and healthcare to work and housing, we help our guests get back on their feet and take steps towards independence that lasts.
Thanks to your continued generosity and support, our highly experienced and dedicated team can do more of their great work with our guests – in a trauma-informed way. That’s at George House and our three move-on houses, with deep consideration of every person’s past and their needs here in the present.
We believe homelessness should never define a person. That’s why we welcome every guest, and their dog, with respect and compassion – making sure they feel safe, valued and never alone.
In the future, it’s our aim to raise enough funds and find the right location in Milton Keynes to replicate George House, so we can offer more temporary beds and more experienced and passionate support workers to help turn more lives around.
Ultimately, we’ll then be able to support more guests into their own homes, with a friendly ear for as long as they need it.
Make a one-off donation, give monthly or put food in our cupboards and help our guests feel at home so they can look to their future.
We welcome volunteers with a wide range of backgrounds, especially if you’re interested in cooking, DIY or admin.
From Robbie Williams’s old tour bus to sleeping pods designed on a PowerPoint, find out how we offer our guests hope, stability and a future.

Now works as a customs clerk
“I used to use the computer at George House to do my CV. Now I have a licence for export and import. The company gave me the opportunity also to study more, to progress in life. All of this came through The Shelter MK. Since I got that job, things have changed a lot. I’ve been happier.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better support worker. She was outstandingly good with me. I could ask her anything and she was willing to go to the extra mile for appointments and advice. She was always available if I needed to speak to her. She would make an effort to spend time with me.”

Is a retired courier
“When I first arrived, it was great. I had a room on my own. I mean, it was small, but it was comfortable, and the food was brilliant. I enjoy staying in contact with people at The Shelter MK. If there’s anything that I ever need support with, I know they’re only a phone call away.”

“The team always listens to you and that’s important. Because, I think, as men, we’re all individuals. I really want to come back to George House as a volunteer. I’ve spoken to individuals there and said, “You’re in the right place. These ‘mums’ in here will help you.”
