It starts with a hot shower, a cup of coffee and a hot meal
At George House, we give our guests a key to their own front door and the things they need to rest and feel safe so they can reset.
Every guest has their own support worker, who is passionate about helping them get back on their feet so they can take steps forward.
“I’d curled up and given up. This place saved my life.”
Our sleeping pods
We have the space for nine guests at any one time at George House here in Milton Keynes. Each pod is a single bedroom, and every guest is welcomed with their own new bedding and a Fresh Start pack of toiletries, which is donated by our partners.
Guests have the peace of mind of a door to lock, and the chance to make new friends with people who are in the same boat. We are even happy for guests to bring their pet dogs to George House.
“At that point, anything is better than what you had. And a cup of coffee….”

Kitchen and dining area
We have a communal kitchen at George House where our guests like to get together to chat, eat and sometimes cook together or for each other.
We are fortunate to have food donations from people and organisations – as well as volunteers who cook and deliver nutritious hot meals.
“I was very spoiled with the choice of food when I was there.”
Craig, 22, Former Guest
Living area and garden
We have an area for our guests to relax and watch TV or play games. Like our pods, this is also a converted shipping container.
We have a seating and BBQ area outside where people can spend time together when the weather is good.
“We used to have barbecues there, which was great fun. Everybody would contribute.”
Donald, 74, Former Guest
Computer area
Having a computer is vital for our guests to look for work and apply for jobs. Every person is welcome to use this area.
We also have donated recycled computers so guests can study or spend more time on their CVs and applications.
“I used to use the computer at George House to do my CV.”

Bikes and activities
We have a bike rack and access to recycled bikes for our guests to cycle to interviews and work.
Our guests also have the opportunity to take part in different activties, like walks, football and boat trips.
“The activities really helped me. We'd go out for some walks. I played football, and I had help with personal training.”
Craig, 22, Guest.
