Right now, just one bedroom and vital support for one of our 21 guests costs us £20,000 per year.
We don’t stop at just shelter. We give each person the key to their own front door and help them get lost IDs and bank accounts so they can apply for work.
We help them with the life skills they need and our team stays by every guest’s side as long as they need us.
If every person in Milton Keynes donated just £1.00, we’d be able to run our existing beds for almost a year.
So, whether you’d like to give a one-off donation or something every month, every pound helps change lives for the better.
We’re happy to take donations of non-perishable food items, like cans and glass jars. However, from time to time our storage may be full and we’ll ask you to give your donation to the MK Food Bank, Community Larder or Community Fridge, which our guests visit to choose items of food each week.
Two of the things our guests need the most are laptops for applying for work and staying in touch with loved ones – and bikes so they can cycle to interviews, work and to visit friends and family.
If you’d like to donate either of these things, get in touch on [email protected], or you can give directly to our partners Cycle Saviours and Rehome Your Electricals.
At The Shelter MK, we provide each of our guests with brand new bedding and so we can’t take donations of any kind of bedding. If you’d like to give towards bedding, the best way is to make a one-off donation above.
While it’s important to make sure our guests have clean clothes, we don’t have storage to be able to take clothing donations. Please send any clothing to MK Storehouse who are our clothing partners that supply our guests with clothes.
